Once upon a time  it was simple for a developer to find  up to date information about what % of android devices are running each of the OS version. Now that google is no longer consistently updating the  Android distribution dashboard, one needs to turn to alternative sources. Well one  of these sources can be Pornhub.

Now a days  Android distribution dashboard system is more under maintenance than getting updated regularly every month . its has been updated only once in whole of 2019. This was during Google I/O. Now that android 10 update is released there is no wat to know what % of devices have got update so far.

This were you will be surprised to know that porn hub has more updated data than google. Pornhub has released their 2019 year in review and among  the odd statistics showing everything you probably never wanted to know about Pornhub viewers there is a section on the devices people use.

The first notable statistic shared is that android usage has decreased while iOS has increased, making iOS the most used mobile operating system for browsing Pornhub.

Pornhub has also android distribution chart. When you look at this chart this looks way different from the official Google’s version. The only difference is Googles version includes all the active android devices, which includes android enterprise, industrial devices, kiosks and digital signage. Whereas porn hub’s chart, as you would expect only has details of those devices that browsed their site.

If you see the above chart Android Pie takes the largest piece in the pie with around 48% of the measured devices. whereas newly launched android 10 Named “Q” in the chart stands at only 2% of Pornhub’s android visitors or less than half the number of Lollipop powered android still in use.

Android Authority also points out that by comparison to Pornhub’s stats for 2018, Android Pie has seen significantly higher adoption one year post-release than Android Oreo did (48% vs 41%). This further demonstrates the success of Project Treble, Google’s effort, beginning with Oreo, to make Android updates much easier for OEMs to develop and deliver. That said, Android’s distribution is still embarrassing by comparison to Apple’s success in getting September’s iOS 13 update onto 71% of devices.
