OnePlus 9 series will reportedly launch in mid-March

OnePlus is now focusing a lot on entry-level and budget smartphones, but the company is also deeply invested in premium category handsets. The Shenzhen-based company’s upcoming flagship will be the OnePlus 9 series, about which we posted some important information a few days ago. Today, we also have something important to share.

According to sources close to AndroidCentral, the OnePlus 9 series will launch earlier than expected next year. To be more specific, sources say that OnePlus is eying a mid-March release date for its upcoming flagship smartphone, though the company is yet to settle on a specific date.

If you recall, the OnePlus 8 series hit the market in the month of April last year, so if OnePlus manages to stick to what it’d planned, we’ll get the OnePlus 9 series a month earlier than the expected April release date. Apart from the information on the release date, no major leaks about the OnePlus 9 have appeared online, leaving us in the dark about key details such as specs, price, design of the upcoming flagship series. However, we can always make some educated guesses about the specs.

In all likelihood, the OnePlus 9 series will be powered by the Snapdragon 875 processor and will have a display with a high refresh rate screen, though we can’t say whether or not the company will settle on 120Hz. We can also expect that design of the OnePlus 9 series won’t be radically different from last year’s OnePlus 8 series.

Meanwhile, Samsung is planning to release the Galaxy S21 series in the month of January, and with that happening, it’s safe to assume that both the brands will face fierce competition from each other. Only time will tell which brand manages to outcompete the other.
