Galaxy buds pro vs Airpods Pro, Can Galaxy Buds Pro be Android Airpods Pro?

Samsung unveiled its new flagship Galaxy S21 Smartphones and alongside its new phones, introduced the $200 Galaxy Buds pro, which is priced at $199 and offers Active noise cancellation.

Samsung Shunned the bean-shaped design for a more traditional earbud style. The company also touts several new features, improved audio, and much more, including adopting features like spatial audio in the Airpods pro.

Samsung had launched wireless earbuds named Gear IconX, a few months before Apple released its first Airpods. These two companies were competing in mobile technology, but Apple offered a much longer battery life and changed the scenario in the wireless earbuds by adding Siri Personal assistant.

Soon Airpods quickly became the most sought after wireless earbuds. However, Samsung continued to upgrade its earbuds, with a refresh in 2018 adding Bixby. In 2019, it branded the wireless buds as Galaxy buds with further improvements. Apple updated Airpods as well and introduced Airpods Pro with Active noise cancellation. Samsung answered with the Galaxy buds live, but the challenge came with the newly released Galaxy Buds Pro

Design

In terms of design, The Galaxy buds pro looks nothing like the Airpods Pro, which features in-ear design with no stem. They also have silicone tips like Airpods Pro, but we found little uncomfortable than the Airpods Pro (which is a subjective opinion).

They need to be fitted tightly inside the ear to get the right fit and the proper seal, both to make sure they stay in the ear and to allow the ANC functionality to work properly.

Without the right fit, the earbuds will not sound right and the audio quality will suffer.

The Galaxy Buds Pro offers Active Noise cancellation (ANC) like Air Pods Pro, which is better than last year’s Galaxy Buds Live.

There is also ambient mode, which is like a transparency mode to allow ambient sounds to come through.

The Standout feature that the Galaxy Buds Pro offer that is not available in the Airpods Pro and that is voice detection. This feature turns down the volume and turns on the ambient mode when it hears the sound of your voice, which is very good.

This makes it easy to have a conversation with someone without ever having to take out the earbuds or having to manually switch modes. It works great and something Airpods Pro users miss.

Price:

The Galaxy buds pro is available at $199, while Apple’s Airpods pro costs you 50 bucks $250. This makes Buds pro a better bargain considering Samsung is selling at discount right now, which would be whole $100 cheaper than the Airpods Pro.

Sound quality

Buds Pro produces rich and wide Sound. The highs and mids are clear and the bass is strong.

Whereas Airpods Pro sound is slightly quieter and narrower. The highs are a tiny bit nicer than on the buds pro, The bass is about equally strong.

There is not much significant difference between the Galaxy buds pro and Airpods Pro in terms of sound quality. How they can sound can be tuned via equalizer presets.

Device support

Buds Pro produces rich and wide Sound. The highs and mids are clear and the bass is strong.

Buds pro can pair and work with pretty much any devices including iPhones and iPads as well as computers.

Airpods Pro can similarly pair to any devices, but of course, you won’t have access to Siri, unless you’re paired with an iPhone or iPad.

So both the buds pro and Airpods pro’s core functionality will be available to you, regardless of your phone. They’ ’ll pair via Bluetooth, touch gestures will work as normal, as well as ANC. But for a seamless pairing process and all features, the Buds Pro is best used with a Galaxy device and the Airpods Pro is best with an iPhone or iPad.

Water resistance

Galaxy Buds Pro comes with an IPX7 rating. That means the earbuds should survive submersion in fresh water up to a meter for around 30 mins. However, Samsung doesn’t advise using them in pools or at the beach, but this rating is just to provide you assurance in case if you are using them outside and it starts raining for example.

As for the AirPods Pro, they are IPX4 rated and according to Apple, it is resistant to water and sweat. Despite the lower rating, the Airpods Pro should also be fine under light rain or if splashed with water.

If you are sweating at the gym with your wireless earphones, Apple and Samsung both recommend wiping them down with a dry cloth before putting them back into their case. This is mainly because both the Buds Pro and Airpods Pro cases have no water resistance whatsoever. Only the earbuds themselves are IP-rated.

Battery life

Both of these earbuds will last a couple of days if used with their case and around 5 hours if used standalone.

Buds Pro with ANC on their case will last up to 18 hours with case and up to 5 hours without it. In case if you wish to save your battery life then Turn ANC off, they can last up to 28 hours with the case and 8 hours without it. You can also note that 5 minutes of quick charging the buds pro can provide up to an hour of playback.

Whereas Airpods Pro with ANC on can last more than 24 hrs of listening time. Without case, it can last about 4.5 hrs of music playback.

Which one should you get?

Well, it all comes down to the aesthetic preference and which phone you are using.  If you are using a galaxy phone or an android phone and you like Buds to design then you will better off with it. In case if you own a Galaxy phone, you will be able to take advantage of all their extra features

In case you own iPhone then no question its better to go with Airpods Pro to reduce the Bluetooth connectivity issue

As said above both the buds pro and Airpods Pro sound about equally good and sport fantastic battery life. Both are easily pocketable and quite comfortable to wear, so there is not much else that should sway your choice
